This position will be responsible for providing all analytics required to support Sysco's Merchandising Team (Corporate and Field) organizations. Responsibilities include: conducting strategic advanced data analytics and visualization along with the creation/maintenance of business reporting, delivering insights and recommendations to optimize sales, product assortment, and ongoing management of assigned categories. This position will support a variety of projects within the Category Management team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Category Analyst Responsibilities
The candidate will support Category Leadership teams with ongoing performance, compliance, opportunity, assortment optimization, and profit management reporting through advanced analytics using various (internal/external) data sources. Identify category insights and propose business solutions based on thorough analysis derived from large data sets. Develop and execute analyses related to supplier, brand, customer, and market performance. Identify and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) including growth, compliance, pricing effectiveness, profitability, and relative strategic value. Support data and analytics utilized by supplier (Category Planners) and broker partners, Joint Business Planning (JBP), and Innovation. Assist in development, maintenance, and enhancement of analytical tools. The individual will proactively contact and inform internal stakeholders of opportunities and will coordinate thought leadership discussions and consolidate information to drive efficient and effective discussions relating to growth opportunities.

Resources and Tools
The candidate will be expert in utilizing departmental software and data (i.e. NPD, Technomic, etc.) to deliver data throughout the Company more efficiently and provide additional insights to the internal/external stakeholders for use with clients, distributors and Marketing. 10 – 20% travel required within the U.S.A. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, or related field, MBA a plus, and at least 3+ years of professional work experience involving syndicated data (NPD preferred) and data management and business/category analysis. Exposure to category management preferred.
Required skills include: expert level knowledge of MS Office Software, especially Excel (advanced formulas and functions), PowerPoint, and MS Access. Experience with: 1010 data, Tableau, SID, SQL, Visual Basic, Business Objects, SAS, R, or other relevant data mining software strongly preferred. Theoretical knowledge of statistics and quantitative analysis techniques (e.g. spreadsheet modeling, regression analysis) a plus.
Foodservice, distribution, retail, or wholesale industry experience desirable, but not required.
Ability to work professionally with different management levels and multiple channels of business, manage multiple projects and requests through time management and satisfy corporate clients through professional customer service.
Excellent analytical and time management skills a must.
The Category Analyst's contribution is extremely important to the Company's success and in meeting financial targets.
